The Parthenon on the Acropolis

The Parthenon is regarded as one of the world's greatest cultural monuments and is considered an enduring symbol of Ancient Greece. It also one of the seven Ancient Wonders of the World. Any first-time visitors (and returning visitors) to Greece should reserve a spot on their itinerary for a visit to this ancient wonder. Below are some pictures from our visit.

You can get some excellent views of Athens from the Acropolis

You can see the areas of restoration that have taken place with the parts of the structure that are in white

There is a lot of history that is connected with the structure. For example, both the east and west pediments, or gable ends, of the building depict various stories concerning the goddess Athena. More information regarding this is available on the Parthenon's Wikipedia site.

Another sight worth seeing in Athens is Lycabettus Hill.
We'll be posting pictures of our visit there soon.
